Welcome to Beacon Hill

Beacon Hill is one of Boston’s oldest communities, with some buildings dating back to the 18th century. Approximately one square mile, Beacon Hill is bound by Beacon Street, Bowdoin Street, Cambridge Street, and Storrow Drive, and consists of wonderful federal-style residential brick rowhouses with beautiful doors, decorative ironwork, brick sidewalks, narrow streets, and gas lamps. One of Beacon Hill’s most elusive streets is Louisburg Square, which counts Senator John Kerry and his wife Teresa Heinz as residents. Other notable residents have included musicians Carly Simon and David Lee Roth, actress Uma Thurman, and historical figures such as Charles Bulfinch.

Beacon Hill is also home to the Massachusetts State House and Charles Street, which is the neighborhood's commercial center with restaurants, stores, and antique shops.
